Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Principal Project & Management (NE) Ltd, we've dedicated years to becoming a proudly sustainable construction company. Our mission is simple: minimise environmental impact with small, achievable steps each year — and...

Building a greener delivery model

Our sustainability efforts began with recycling old carpet tiles, which are repurposed into yarn. We also switched to using recycled floor protection and committed to reusing any items we can, storing them for future projects. We tackle plasterboard waste by sending off-cuts back to the manufacturer for recycling into new boards. In addition, we recycle ceiling tiles, grids and damaged aluminium, reducing landfill waste.

Our team is trained to minimise waste by handling materials carefully, separating waste, and securely storing items to protect them when reusable. Sustainability is a core part of our business strategy, and we're proud to see our efforts result in a greener, more efficient approach to construction.

7 Principles of Sustainable Construction

At PPM, we create and refurbish buildings that are environmentally responsible as well as practical to occupy and maintain.

Sustainable Design

Sustainable design is the cornerstone of any eco-friendly building. It focuses on creating and refurbishing structures that harmonize with the natural environment, reducing energy consumption and the need for excessive resources. Our design philosophy integrates practical methods that prioritize planetary health while enhancing comfort and functionality.

Durability

Durability ensures buildings stand the test of time, requiring fewer repairs and less frequent replacements. By using high-quality materials and construction practices, we create and refurbish robust, long-lasting structures that reduce environmental impact over their whole life.

Energy Efficiency

We prioritise energy-saving measures such as insulation, high-performance windows and renewable options where appropriate. These improvements help reduce operational costs for building owners while contributing to lower carbon emissions.

Waste Reduction

Minimising construction waste is crucial for sustainability. Our projects use careful material handling, segregation and recycling where possible, reducing the amount sent to landfill and supporting a cleaner construction process.

Indoor Air Quality

Healthy indoor air quality supports the wellbeing of building occupants. We incorporate ventilation, low-VOC finishes and careful material choices to reduce pollutants and create healthier, more comfortable environments.

Water Conservation

We employ water-efficient fixtures and landscaping approaches that minimise water usage without sacrificing quality or aesthetics — reducing environmental footprint and helping clients manage utility costs.

Sustainable Building Materials

Materials are central to project sustainability. We carefully select renewable, recycled and locally sourced products with a lower environmental impact wherever project requirements allow.
